• NL Holdem Poker- Who is Howard Lederer?

    Howard Lederer grew up in a family of five in which he enjoyed gambling on various card games when he was young. He discovered himself getting really competitive in these card games while playing his dad. After finishing high school, Howard made a decision to put higher education on hold for a little bit and moved away to New York to participate in some serious chess. While participating in chess, he was introduced to a poker game taking place in the back of the room. Howard’s 1st 2 years were difficult as he played extensive hours and lose most times. He made some extra cash by becoming an assistant for the poker players. He theorized he might boost his game by balancing his life outside of poker. He brought about an effort to acquire more rest and focus even more on poker.

    The actual advancement in his abilities happened when he began wagering at the Mayfair Club in New York City. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon association where the the most favorable players would frequently challenge one another. He had access into a few of the greatest players in chess. With their assistance, Howard would hone his strategic thinking techniques. Howard applied these strategy ideas to the game of No-Limit hold’em.

    He also assisted his sibling Annie Duke master the game of poker. Annie was a great student of the game as she would consistently be asking questions about the right way to make the proper decision. He told Annie to move out to Sin City and play in the World Series of Poker tournaments. She is one of the strongest female players the poker world has ever seen. He moved to Las Vegas in 1993 and competed in cash games for the next 10 years. When the World Poker Tournament gained popularity, Howard made the decision to compete in more tournaments.
