Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker contender on the globe by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandfather taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup every little thing he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not permit the negative feedback from other people annihilate his goal of being one of the best poker competitors on the planet.
He began competing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a learning period and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed many of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an eternal passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. He admits to making blunders every single session of poker and always strives to improve.
Even though Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he likes winning money games on a normal basis.
